M. Night Shyamalan has revealed that the third movie in his “Night Chronicles” horror anthology (the first of which, “Devil,” debuts Sept. 17) is essentially a sequel/spinoff of “Unbreakable.” The flick features a villain and other elements that the filmmaker originally set aside from the 2000 suspense thriller.
Dwayne Johnson is in final negotiations to star in the “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D” sequel “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” based on the classic Jules Verne novel. Johnson will play the boyfriend of Josh Hutcherson's character's mother. Brendan Fraser will not return due to scheduling conflicts.
Finally, “Skyline,” a sci-fi thriller about strange lights that descend upon the city of Los Angeles, will not hit theaters until Nov. 11 but sales agency and film distributor IM Global has announced that it has already begun work on a sequel. The company is also shopping Barry Levinson's zombie eco-thriller “The Bay.”

AZ Weekly Entertainment Magazine ~ Reviewers' Roundup: 'Lebanon'
National Movie News

Monday, 06 September 2010
Set on the first day of the 1982 Lebanon War, writer/director Samuel Maoz's "Lebanon" traces a lone tank's journey through a hostile town that has already been bombarded by the Israeli Air Force, as seen through the eyes - quite literally - of four young soldiers. Though they try to remain brave, the men are pushed to their mental limits as they struggle to survive.
The following is a collection of quotes pulled from reviews written by AZ Weekly Film! contributors to present readers with a wider perspective about this new release.
Stan Robinson (ScreenScene.org): “Not since director Wolfgang Peterson’s ‘Das Boot’ (81’) has there been such a compelling portrait of war. From the moment the film starts, we’re inside the tank to only see and feel what the 4 tank members see, as the ‘parallax’ view through the tank gunner’s view-scope of the war outside, as they try to survive inside the tank. Its compelling filmmaking, at its finest!” Grade: A
Joseph J. Airdo (Examiner.com): “No other movie in all of cinematic history places the viewer in the middle of war in such a hauntingly authentic fashion like "Lebanon." It is undoubtedly a piece of jaw-dropping filmmaking about which you will not soon forget. Maoz's terrifically true-to-life point-of-view paired with strong performances by all of the actors make for a superbly suspenseful ride through a very real horror.” Grade: A

Movie Review: ‘Animal Kingdom’ ~ Matriarchal family control, at any cost
National Movie News

I’ve always enjoyed the reflective view of the same social, economic, and political views of other countries as our own, as it’s portrayed in foreign film cinema. ‘Animal Kingdom’ presents a terrifying look at the Melbourne, Australia crime underworld and the Cody family, where tensions are at the breaking point with the Cody brothers on one side and ‘rogue’ police detectives on the other, who stop at nothing including murder, for control…

Movie Review: ‘Going the Distance’, an adult date movie with a realist look!
National Movie News
Written by Stan Robinson
Thursday, 02 September 2010
There’s ‘date movies’, those films that deal with the aspects of male-female interaction from either perspective, with focus on coming together as a couple. ‘Going the Distance’ presents the basics of those same elements, in an ‘adult’ fashion for men and women, which is quite refreshing!
The base story: a woman (Drew Barrymore) from Los Angeles, while on an internship in New York, meets a guy (Justin Long). What starts as a likable convenient relationship of addressing the normal physicality of the human species, discover they truly like each other. Having to return to LA after the internship, they decide that ‘Going the Distance’ is worth the effort as they deal with the familiar situation of distant relationships.
Movie Review: ‘The Tillman Story’, a documentary with broad appeal interest…

The greater majority of documentary films are ‘niche’ or defined audiences due to subject matter or the theme of the movie. ‘The Tillman Story’ has potential broad viewership, especially in Arizona, because of the many levels of the central person, Pat Tillman.
For sports, an Arizona State University and Arizona Cardinals football player; military, an Army Airborne Ranger; and for the masses across the country, a person who felt the need to serve his country giving up a lucrative NFL football contract.
