There’s movies that I call “Slice of life” films where we simply drop in for a while, follow along, and then we’re out again. In “New York, I Love You”, we’re treated to ten ‘slices of life’ stories by as many directors! The central theme that ties all of the stories together, love, in New York City. We experience the highs and lows on the meaning of love in the big city! This movie is quite an undertaking in film production annals with so many stories and actors, which presents an insightful view on the most cherished of human emotions! In the city that never sleeps, love is in the air. In “New York, I Love You”, ten directors collaborate for the stories that create an insightful view of the spontaneous, surprising, electrifying human connections that are the life of New York City. The varied stories are sexy, funny, haunting, serious, fantasy, and revealing, slices of life. From the upscale city dwellers to the working class, from Tribeca to Central Park to Brooklyn, we enter the lives, only for a moment, of the citizens of New York City and their meaning of love. I can’t think of any other film with so much creative input from as many writers, directors and actors.
